Buenos Aires, December 23 (NA) – Severe weather hit the City of Buenos Aires and its surroundings after an exhausting day when the heat index reached 34 degrees. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the downpour was recorded in the Buenos Aires neighborhoods of Colegiales, Villa Urquiza, Balvanera, Constitución, Monserrat, Villa Crespo, and Liniers, while also affecting the south, north, and west of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, as learned by the Argentine News Agency. In several areas, there was heavy hail and flooding, causing the thermometer to drop to 22 degrees and providing relief after a scorching day. The temperature reached 30°C, while the heat index climbed to 34°C with the arrival of summer in the Southern Hemisphere. The weather will improve over the next few hours, but it is expected to worsen on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, December 24, with the arrival of isolated showers. Additionally, the Unicenter shopping mall was one of the most affected locations during the heavy rains, suffering leaks on the walls of the third floor.
